The Splendid Scalpel is monthly webinar connecting naturalists and taxidermists in their shared appreciation and conservation of wildlife. In the spirit of accessibility, tickets are pay what you wish, with all proceeds split evenly between the instructors. In this session of The Splendid Scalpel, we will be exploring everything about BEETLES!

Naturalist Coral Richards will share some beetle biology, artist Alessandra Dzuba will share insights on her dermestid colony, and Divya Anantharaman will share how to preserve and prepare a beetle specimen!

PLEASE NOTE-all creatures are legally and sustainably sourced. No animals are harmed for the sake of art or science.

We will engage in the artistic, practical, and scientific aspects of entomology. Coral, Alessandra, and Divya will be able to answer questions about beetles, their care, and preservation, and how the arts and sciences can harmonize to further our shared goal, conservation.

All ticket holders will be sent a recording of the presentation after the event is done. So even if you are unable to watch it live, as long as you purchased a ticket, you will be able to watch the event! Ticket holders unable to come day of can email Divya/Gotham Taxidermy for any questions they would like the presenters to answer.
